Did we die well In the passing Hell, By love that was hurled from our hearts To the emptied streets? Street lights pass us Without our motioning forward Through the time that constitutes death Upon its bleak shoulders. We were dreamers Loving the sails more than the waters. For it was the ocean that drowned us, Sunk us Beneath the stars and moon, Colliding light with darkness. Like when we reached bottom, Like when we flooded the rooms of our sighs. I still see the blue For the skies, The terrors of our minds For our beauties. I see What we plea for, In hopes, to survive, In want, to arrive.

A beautiful poem. I had to read this a few times to grasp it entirely. I at first thought it was referring to a sort of disillusionment in society or life, but it seems to be about looking beyond the terror and seeing the bright side or even embracing it, the beauty as you say, with the terror.
“I still see the blue
For the skies,
The terrors of our minds
For our beauties.I see
What we plea for,
In hopes, to survive,
In want, to arrive.”In all its pith, it seems to be about striving for hope to receive the full clarity of want perhaps, as evinced in the final few lines. A hope for survival, a want to keep moving forward. I could be entirely wrong (and I most likely am), but this poem really made me ponder the meaning of it; it intrigued me greatly.
Excellent writing as always. Stunning.

No, you are right, in your own fashion. Poetry should be interpreted, being the emotion it is. π
Though, when I write my poems, I sometimes do not know what I am writing until after I’ve written it. I guess a reader’s interpretation of it is most important, then.
Thank you for the in-depth comment. I appreciate that so much.

Very interesting! I do that too with poetry. The thoughts and emotions are there with the words, but it only constructs itself when it’s finished. Like you, I’m not sure of what I’m writing until I’m near the end or am finished writing it. I have not met anyone else on WP that does this, so that’s pretty cool! π
I agree with you on that. It’s what the reader takes from it and how they put it in their perspective on how it connects to them.
Again, I really enjoyed reading this poem. Such a brilliantly penned piece!

This poem may be good. Though, I’ve yet to write/complete something that truly “solidifies” everything I’ve felt, for the past 2 years.
I have started something. Perhaps it will encompass all I’ve been feeling. Some sort of “magnum opus” or however it is termed. I’ve been meaning to do this. To write something that captures everything, all in one big work.
