Poem – “Shelter Beneath the Sun” – 7/21/2023

Disallowance – the face of everything
becoming senseless distraught.
I accompany you, dragging your anchor
down bottomless pathways,
while you look up. You look up
to see the sun,

one more reminder
that you should always run.

Always running, constantly shunning
a potential for truth to quiver your skin.
Blessed, to be coming together
as a united picture,

but you are reminding yourself
of what cannot linger.

Gravity condemns you.
You want to look up
to how you should be pulled down,
never to imagine the potential
to be someone among sunlight.

Shelter buries you,
as you want to see yourself
a fossil, after this journey.

Stars would connect you,
if you would look up
without seeing the setting sun.
