Poem – “Mixed With the Smile” – 10/18/2023

An ocean with its waves,
distant curvature of somewhere else
invites me, persists me
to return to a truth.

To give me a spark, upon the sight
of loving light at a house
where a savior would greet me,
where a glance would examine me
upon everything I disbelieved.

Inflamed with the sun,
presenting an aura with the moon,
though nothing has raised me
to see newness,
through breathlessness.

An ocean, a strengthened tide
will bring me closer to something other
than what’s alien with this smile.

A curvature, of water that welcomes
a life, brought through the same
type of element.

I do not want
to leave at a gust,
from a pair of trembling lips,
crying like I did
when I arrived.
