Poem – “From Faded Colors” – 12/2/2023

Outside from departure
to those fossils, where many
have set sail.
Inside this burial of two arms
to console your form,
full in its years,
though remaining countless
in unshed tears.

Can you release your distress,
in what comes with your breath?
Just a life, within your strife,
while you watch those harbors.

You expect something
to arrive, while you hang on
from a thin rope,
wanting to survive
amidst fragile hope.

Come down, and settle
to be someone other than a petal
that lost its color.

Come here, water yourself
with tears inside a bucket
you’ve carried for no one else.

Raise yourself,
standing on those stones
where once, you crashed,
like a ship for a lighthouse
that never shone.
