Poem – “Your Last Resort” – 12/8/2023

If you don’t need it,
then take it off.
Dispose of your eyesore,
remove what can be no more,
as it remains those rocks
laid as obstacles
on that path you walk.

I wasn’t trying to lose you,
in trying to move you.
Flooded throughout,
we were leveled in depth,
but had different degrees,
different heights
with different weather.

You melted your snow,
while I kept to this rain.
You wanted a way out
on paths that were near.
I stayed here to weep,
from a reflection
I cannot ever clean
to make clear.

If you mean it,
then get rid of it.
Unmask yourself,
hidden in transparency.
I see where you stand,
visible in my confusion.
I witness your conflict,
frozen in a forced fusion.
