Poem – “Hoping Above Hope” – 3/12/2024

Crystallized madness -
a circle drawn around some words,
those that brought us through
an open door, into a curse.

I've kissed you into sweetness,
as you were, in your fever,
drenched in bitterness.

I've folded hand over hand,
praying for a warmth
to ignite our frozen land.

Those without hope
go missing without light,
to guide them far from darkness
and its ledge into an abyss.

For us, I've found footprints
that have dug into snow.
I've believed them to be
our invitation to grow.

A messenger, it must be,
as I'll keep calling out
for you to follow
into waters not shallow.

Into depth, we'll weep
blissful tears to keep.
