Poem – “Clad in Moonlight” – 6/30/2024

Divorcing the decision
to be removed, to instead
be moved, inside your mind,
rowing in this path,
where on either side
is the result of weather
that never stopped
its infinite descension.

Remove what weighs us,
as being modest is too close
to looking like fear.

I strip from your shell
drenched attire,
laced in prior exhaustion.

Freeing ourselves
from needless toil,
into open, crisscrossing
embraces in a tempest
of tangled limbs.

I have as much need
as you do, to cling to
all that we've dreamed,
to be clad in nothing more
than a spill of moonlight.

Over encasing arms,
reflected from tracing eyes,
to create a pool from what
we'll keep listening to,
being our hearts
in the dark.
