Poem – “Bare as Fair Clouds” – 12/22/2024

Let yourself surround,
with tides growing long.
Pulling you over,
as I tie the knots around
places I'll come to kiss.
No one is leaving here.
I'll scare all nightmares
far from being here.

Here's for pleasant sinners
who have hoped, in their
creative devices, to be winners
in the Hell they'll admire.

I bring down a breath
to your sea of skin,
cradling vastness of flesh
from earth to bone.

I hold your gaze in mine,
having captured what
we have wished for, in time
to see our hearts spiral
their rhythms,
their tunes, blending
captivity with melody.

Adoration cures
an agonized state
of unsated wonderment.
We had been waiting
for this moment,
having meandered,
having wept,
under thunderclouds.

We are here, to sing
to the pleasures of safety.
We are here, to dine
on each other's yearning.

We will remain,
holding closed the door,
with that rusted key
to be disposed
in the nearest aperture.
