Poem – “Trail of Petals” – 3/23/2025

I am outside,
having followed you
to be ceased, by your
shimmers, or your
capturing shadows.

It had to be either,
when I came through
an unguarded gate.

It couldn't be neither,
when I have arrived
to be remembered.

Something lingers,
as it never evaporates.
It's been brought
closer, always inside
these imprisoning lungs.

I am viewing you,
as the sunlight
decorates your skin.

I am rediscovering you,
reminding me of my way
to bring you in,
to bring us away.

Love-starved, lovelorn,
wanting always what
gets fed into my heart.

We are years from
serving death its reward.
Let us be blended
into timeless unity.

Let us live, while we
hold out to Heaven
what the angels
will admire.
