Poem – “Fending for Revival” – 5/29/2025

One last wave,
a termination of one
ingenuine smile
allows me to know
what I've lost touch of.

For I've wielded all hours -
those I've dragged along
without looking above.

If I see what rains,
seeing who has strained
under such an undoing
of a life that's blessed,
I'll never imagine
what can come after.

I've walked under
the ruthless weight
of seemless indecision,
of absent revision.

I've been living
in the shelter of a cage,
hoping that words
will weaken the lock.

I must take the step,
promising to move from
this path on an endless,
evading traversal.

I must come to admit
that this current tale
has been burning pages,
keeping nightmares as
the undefeated villain.

I'll be the hero in this
condemning tragedy.

I'll heal what has always
been an incurable malady.
