Poem – “The Lake Reflects” – 8/11/2025

I’ve been here
to tell what’s old,
what’s engraved
in such scenery
where youth
is a mere splash
to cause the crash
of timelessness
on open space.

All memories
are yearned
amid this expanse,
this teeming plane
of fulfillment.

Old flavors
are brought in,
to be renewed
on swollen tongues,
on ancient minds.

I will let
the letters
rewrite each other,
revealing the way
to blanket me
in their meaning.

I will provide
this aging life
with its color,
with its water
to continue on
its speeding growth.

Through salience,
under radiance,
shadows are one
of the extensions
to a heart, filled up
with the words
that give me grace.

But shadows
are not the end
of a lifetime
lived in depth,
reaping rewards
from what’s caught
in the waves.
