Poem – “What the Spaces Say” – 10/16/2025

In here,
the world is cold,
far from circulation,
from from the heat
of that extensive
anticipation.

Are you safe?
We’ve lingered here,
reaching for words
to recover meaning
for a lack of color.

Are you loved?
This isolation shelters
not much more
than our two hearts
pieced together.

It’s all that I can
give to you,
while our knot
remains tight,
as this spot
stays bright.

We can light candles,
that are fewer than fuses,
not giving in
to the temptation
to reignite the course
set for frustration.

I recognize that this
will eventually
burn itself away.

I remember that you
will see an opportunity
to run away.
