Poem – “Bury Me with You” – Romance – 3/8/2020

Should you die,
Could you bury me with you?
I’d like to not re-lift the memories
Deep from underground
In my mind,
For my pain has already surfaced
From beneath an ocean
Of the same tears we have both sailed upon
Beneath starless skies.

Love is the finality of our great devotion,
And death has been its greatest enemy.
Like two petals to cross either cheek
Of yours,
Love should have fulfilled you,
But you sunk
Deep below its depths,
When I attempted to carry you
Through murk and mire.

Love sees many colors,
But yours was not among them.
Just a stark emptiness
Like a candle blown out of its blame.
