Poem – “Bleed Me in the Open” – Romance – 4/14/2020

Bleed me in the open,

Drink me in the open,

Drink my contents

That have been spent.

Bleed, and nourish yourself

Lady of beauty.

You seem to enjoy this

While I despair in the solitude

Of my tears.

I creep among my own ashes,

I stay awake among my own grave,

I sing a note that does not echo

To the moon and back.

I see you among the centerfold

Of the world’s largest canyon,

And I say

You cannot stay

When love has surely gone away.

Create what you can

Out of me, this man

Who has only ever loved with the life

Of a thousand other men

That are worth nothing.
