Poem – “Returning to You” – Romance – 10/24/2020

Returning
To your unadorned silk,
Wading
In frequent waters
Piling as rocks atop your eyes,
Leaving as rivers to be lakes
At your engrained feet.

Leaving
This mortal realm,
To be perfect, in your heart.
As I see the blood where I splash,
Where I bathe,
From arms, so scathed,
Like Christ welcoming his enemies.

I will go to your heart,
Leaving the thunderstorms, behind,
In the defeat of another world,
In the rise of another.

You have bled for too long
Of your eyes,
Of your hands,
As you have swung like a mirthful child
From the gallows.
