Poem – “Hold onto that Rope” – Modern Romanticism – 4/6/2022

Don’t. I scream,
don’t release?
The petal. Your lips
open for another
gasp of air.
Is it the last one?
Should it be?

Won’t. You won’t
let me another kiss.

You won’t, –

as I won’t
go across to save you.
I don’t. I should not
break your fall,
for I am stone.

I am as you say
I am.

You are as we have said
you are.

If you want to bleed,
then bleed.
You are free.
