Poem – “In Barest Grief” – Romance – 10/27/2020

Wild,
Strewn about
In nakedness,
Leaving me my own tears,
Consuming them
In one banquet of fears.
How much hollowness
For how many graves?

Love is the only world
That knows not how to leave,
Not how to depart,
From my withered mind,
Daunting
As a single petal at the edge
Of a broken stem.
All I have is one candle
To see my face
In her own.

Love is herself,
For the grief pours down
From the place, she was taken.
A Heaven that is so distant
From my Hell.
