Poem – “How Great, the Arms of Love” – Romanticism – 1/17/2021

Pulled against
The great ocean
Of your sighing mouth,
Gathering fragments
Of your broken heart

Together, for the next
Moment, in our empty space.

We love to hope,
Leaning against the other,
Against the barren slope
Pulling sideways

The tears that once shielded
Our vacant and lucid eyes.

For we love with open gravity
To stay ourselves
Upon the earth, with its clarity.

We dream in the iron,
The racing train on the desire
To find ourselves in the grime.

We have remained without a home
For too long.
In long arms,
Where faces are near
To tears,

With eyes that soar
Across the forms that tremble,
In arms that quiver.
