Poem – “Running Tides from the Scars” – Romanticism – 3/8/2021

Waltz through
The open door,
For the pain is still there
To be adored.
Sleep peacefully
Among the dew-drenched petals,
Wasted soil for beds
Of churned earth for the dead.

I have kept you,
Needlessly protected
With eyes that still see shadows
Down every corner,
Across all lanes.
While my tears rain
As the skies part themselves,
Will you still sing?

Of broken stems,
Aging leaves,
Weakness throughout every bough
Of the oaken self.
Cut down for the pages
Left to tale a tale
Of wasted years
In broken love.
