It wasn’t long
when we said, we would touch
before Heaven collapsed.
I wasn’t strong
enough to reverse
the waves, the scars
that would send us beneath
the unfading stars.
From the rope
where I found a puddle,
crystallized.
From the bridge
crossed, for an impossible love,
collapsing for kisses lost –
upon letters we never sent.
Lament
our forever sighs,
our lakes, dried into vapor.
A kiss to each
of those thin fingers.
A petal for each
of your eyelids,
before the earth in its nakedness
swallows you.
Loving while weeping
words never said,
waters never let
loose, from the open space
you left me to trace.
