Poem – “Being Drained to See” – 5/12/2026

This story from our
multi-colored history
represents the commitment
of our crime,
of our time.

We escaped a prison
our heart had built
for us to remain
content, confined.

We despaired for relief,
even for a second
to see the reason why
we entered to belong.

In love, we shouted
for Heaven to hear us,
whenever we were
smothered inside.

In life, we learned
what loneliness has
to echo onto us,
to anticipate with us.

Surrounded by fate’s
Hellish dilation,
a fixed void,
a dense circle,
consuming the rest
of what we thought
was best to bring.
