Poem #2 – “Life is a Peddled Road” – Romance – 4/10/2020

Life has gifts
Of dying old
Given unto the young
Who treasure what is hung
Above in the sky, where tears fall loosely.

Your eyes sung
With higher choirs
Than ever did your mouth, breathing out your screams
To my open ears,
My open arms.

Life is a peddled road
Full of moments, stolen
Away from where cliffs offer the racing children
Who shall not become so old
As the dirt under their nails.

Please undergo what is needed
To survive
This depravation.
You are the island above my hand,
You are the skies beneath where I stand,
Where each blushing blue face
Has been yours where we race.
