Poem – “How Cruel is Earth to Be?” – Romance – 8/12/2020

One moment to the next,
Of one discontent to another
Bringing back such cruelty
We had designed for the past,
Not for our steps, ahead.

We seem to be,
Seem to be
Drunks, for sadness.

Life grows cruelty,
Upon the sharpest thorns,
Upon the makeshift births.

Nothing is natural,
Ever natural
About this view
We have not made,
Though the world conjures up
As the waves
For us to swim.

We are stung,
Dearly stung
By all the droplets
Of an ocean, so wide,
It swallows us,
Mocks us
In existent failure.
