Poem – “Your Sadness in my Place” – Romance – 9/11/2020

Can you breathe,
Dear one?
The ocean seems to have been wrapped
In a storm
Of your making.
Can you calm,
Dear one?
Can you see the fallen droplets
That exit from a pair of eyes,
Like hanging from the shortest piece of rope?

Just a bucket
To a well
Of where your sadness
Has its origin.

Your hands
Feed the line,
Down to where your heart resides,
Down to where your feet want to walk.

Upon the waters,
Can you walk,
Dear one?
Or,
Will you sink,
Beautiful one?
Our dreams have been piled high to Heaven,
As we tremble with our wings,
As our slender throats can sing.
It is just tears, dear one.
