Poem – “Falling into Everything” – Romanticism – 12/15/2020

The floors miss the fall
Of each thing concealed, and all
We had to make the mistake
Of something else
We both lived for.

Under youthful bodies,
Living among the swarm,
The piercing tempest
Bleeds into hearts that bled out
To the lilacs among the roses,
The thorns upon the meadows
Where sighs
Field between the stems, the blades
Of grass that cut
Our breath short.

I worship plenty
That does not die,
Not the throbbing vessels
Nude upon your tongue,
Born to the faded taste.

Lifted skirts,
Shaded droplets,
Moonlit terrors,
Scars with deep-red
Scenes of something fresh.
