Poem – “Count the Steps of our Love” – Romanticism – 1/8/2021

Believe in
What more could come for us
In beauty’s retreat
Back to ecstasy,
The loss to return
Upon the sweetest embrace
To ever encase
The song from your smile.

I do not want love
To be bandaged, this way
With the familiar murky waters
Where we stepped our feet
To be sunken through.

How does the pain
Hold you through
Another night, without me?

Great change
Rides the soft stains
Upon your dried lips.
The words you leaked
From a Hell-born wasteful heart
Full of torment,
Can now
Go undone, to simpler trials.

Place yourself
Beside me,
In the sunrise
Of surety.
