Falter,
Oh, heart of mine,
The play has quickened itself

Around the dancing choir
Of notes that chime,
Whistle,
And bellow.

I am in what cannot be overturned,
Songster to my love,
A ringing to my ears,
Of no temptation to invasive fears.

My world holds a sound,
Of heartstrings knit together,
Unable and incapable
To become unbound.

Love is a challenge
To the encompassed soul.
Of arms swung around
A neck,
For voices to breathe in
Of a forever-wounded heart
On the impalement
Of tears and broken webs,
Of fine-bladed hopes.
