Poem – “Every Counted Flake of Snow” – Romanticism – 2/13/2021

Back to the moments
We kept gathering,
While footprints were watching
From behind.

While a wilderness grows
Between our fingers,
A droplet of our idle blood
Raises a thorn,
Brandishes a sadness.

Reveal these tears,
Swallow the mournful wails.
Waltz past the portraits
Of idler faces,
Holding hands with a song.

Manifest love
Into living flesh.
Behold frozen death
Among every flake of snow,
Melting with the ash.
