Poem – “Signs of Longing” – Romanticism – 2/14/2021

Remember those days
Children never cried?
I do not.

We are two tormented dolls
Of lost strings,
Worn of our eyes,

Stained at our feet.

We walk
Down dim halls
Holding hands with a rope,
Singing the same song
As lifeless birds.

Bringing winter near,
Singing through tears,
Reusing the same symmetry
Already shattered.

Remember those days
Adults never wept?
I do.
