Poem – “Walking above your Ashes” – Romanticism – 3/9/2021

And hollow smoke
Entrenches you
In your velvet curtain
Of unguarded sleep.

Waking and weeping
For the first funeral to commence,
For their sounds have left you
Bottomless and open.

New music
Sending your flesh sweeping
Dust into a fine garb
And wilted cloak.

Walking and running
Atop where you rest,
With snow to keep you buried
In depression’s amorous arms.

Is a silence to captivate you,
Surround you
In the white to make your sight
Heavy and countless
Among the debris, atop.
