Poem – “The Day I Love you” – Romanticism – 3/18/2021

The day when
Our lips never retreat
Back to swallowing tears,
To their trembling
In barren fears.

When that day
Comes as open as when
The nighttime breaks
Through, with the sun to rise
In the caress of great warmth
To the cold backs
Of the other.

Then,
I come with great song
Poured open from my heart
That I have always loved
Without letting go.

You have always been
The echo that kept returning
Of your solitary name,
In the absence of its last.

We will be without
The absence of all coming days
We spend, in our grace.
