Poem – “Our Formal Fire” – 9/22/2026

Dressed in finality
for this occasion,
burning images
onto sand,
returning grains
to the spot
we knew to meet.

Answer to rainfall,
prayed for to remake
the ocean we once
forgot to navigate.

I’m remembering
how we danced,
letting our trails glide,
mirroring the mist.

Over long lines,
for anchors,
named your legs,
I’m rushing to take
to the way
that I can stand,
after eyesight lands.

Light won’t betray
what we undo
from our covers,
loosening skin,
shedding snow
from wreaths
wrapped around
enthralled minds.

Build with me
the fire
that won’t fade,
while time
never tells us apart
in this world
falling to pieces,
since its start.
